Web design in the Comox Valley. Three towns, one market.
Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland are one market with three names and several seasons. We build a custom site that reads right for all of it and keep it current when the hours change. Remote first from Port Alberni, $350 a month, no build fee.

Your customer types Courtenay. Your sign says Comox.
Courtenay is the commercial centre. Comox sits across the estuary. Cumberland is up the hill. Royston, Union Bay, Merville and Black Creek fill in around them. To a search engine those are separate places, so the same customer types a different town depending on which side of the river they live on.
The wrong fix is a page per town
Three near-identical pages with the town swapped is the oldest trick in local search and the one Google is best at catching. It doesn't just underperform; it puts the whole domain at risk, honest pages included. That's why we built this as one page about a region.
The right fix is boring
One real address, said once. One clear sentence about where you actually go. A Google Business Profile whose service area matches that sentence, instead of the whole Island because the box was free to tick.
No promises about position
Nobody can guarantee where you land in a search. We can promise a site that's fast, readable, correct about where you are, and carrying nothing that gets you penalised.
A base, a mountain and a coal town. None of them behave like a high street.
The Comox Valley runs on several economies with different clocks, and a website that ignores that is wrong most of the year.
19 Wing Comox
A Canadian Forces base at the north end of the valley, staffed by people posted in and out. Some of your customers arrived two years ago and leave in three. Word of mouth fades fast here, so new arrivals find you by searching or not at all.
Mount Washington
A ski season and a summer bike season above Courtenay, with a shoulder in between. Seasonal hours, opening dates and closure notices go stale first and cost the most when they do. Changing them four times a year is included in the monthly price.
Cumberland and the trails
A former coal town with a mountain-bike network on its doorstep, and a customer who shows up on a Saturday, muddy, on a phone with one bar. That's a different visitor from someone on Fifth Street in Courtenay on a Tuesday, and the site works for both.
The valley skews older than the Island average. Type size is a revenue decision.
A retirement destination is a market with reading glasses in it. Small grey text on a lighter grey background isn't a style choice there. It's a customer who gave up and called someone else.
The website plan
$350/month
A custom website of up to five pages, with hosting, domain, SSL, backups, updates and small changes included.
Measured, not assumed
- Contrast is measured off the rendered page by a check that fails the build, not eyeballed in a mockup
- Layout measured at five widths, down to 360px
- Chrome and Safari both, on every change
- Phone numbers and addresses that are tappable, not pictures of text
If it's not a website
- Automation and AI for the work that repeats every week — AI and automation
- A first version of the idea that has been a document for a year — apps and MVPs
- IT on its own, across the Island — IT consulting on Vancouver Island
The scope is visible before the build.
Pages, revisions and timing go into a written scope before work starts. The example shows the kind of decision a client can review and change while the site takes shape.

Before we start
Do you have an office in the Comox Valley?
No. We're based in Port Alberni and reach the valley up Highway 4 and the Inland Island Highway. Scoping, building, launching and changes afterwards all happen remotely.
Do you list Courtenay, Comox and Cumberland separately?
No, on purpose. Three near-identical pages with the town name swapped is the pattern search engines penalise. One page about the valley plus an accurate service area on your Google Business Profile does the same job without the risk.
What does $350 a month include?
A custom website of up to five pages, plus hosting, your domain, SSL, daily backups, security updates and small ongoing changes. There is no separate build fee.
Do I own the website?
Yes. Your domain is registered in your name, and the website remains yours.
Tell us what the valley needs to see.
Which town the sign says, what changes with the season, and who you're trying to reach. Tell us that and we'll tell you what shipping it takes.
